Wandering Around Bhaktapur: Historical city Of Nepal ♥ 6

Bhaktapur also known as Bhadgaon or Khwopa is an ancient Newar city located in the east side of Kathmandu valley, Nepal. Also enlisted as a world heritage site by UNESCO, it is known for its rich newar culture. The wooden and stone sculpture are one of a kind and can mesmerize anyone.

A metal sculpture of the lion "simha/ singha" in one of the many temples in Bhaktapur durbar square. So i realized the city is rich in art; be it stone, metal or wood work. The magnificence radiate through every nook and corner of this city.

These stone statues of the guarding lion "singha/ simha" and lord "Narasingha/ Narasimha" (Half human, half lion) are placed at the door of the museum in Bhaktapur durbar square. These are situated just left to the well renowned "golden gate".

This is a metal Statue of "Raja" King Bhupatindra Malla situated over a column, at the center of Bhaktapur Durbar Square facing the palace. This magnificent art has experienced the bitter phase of time, but still, you can't stop wondering about its splendour.

Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder!! One of the temple inside the Bhaktapur Durbar Square. The staircase are adorned with stone sculptures of elephant and lions guarding the entrace. The details on the roof are spectacular. And the giant "ghanta", bell produce enchanting music. It must have taken decades to carve this beauty. Dont you think so? :)

This is the entry gate to the historical city or "Dhoka". The pediment is designed with sculptured wood. Though weathered, the details are beautiful. It is the sculpture of the same demon which can be found engraved in most of the Nepali temple pediment.

This is a snap of an old "Dhara" i.e water tap that has lost its water but not its Beauty. A stone sculpture with elephant's trunk and a mouth, it was used as a source of water in ancient times. The details though weathered with time, can be appreciated. As water is regarded as an essential element among the five classical elements, sculpture of god can be seen above and below the 'dhara'. Bhaktapur literally means 'place of devotees' and the details wont disappoint you.

I was mesmerized with the details and the concept. Hope you did too :)

LIFE

Like water, flowing from the wombs of mountain to the plains
Like air, dancing always everywhere
Like music ♪♫, spreading all around without any bounds
like love ♥, sprinkling happiness in all ups and downs

But No.... life is not as simple as we think
It has bends and corners within
Sometimes threatening to death, Sometimes taking to extremes of joy
Making life adventurous, full of happiness and cry

Like water, but with falls and rise
Like air, sometimes wriggling inside
Like music, sometimes with broken strings of guitar
Like love, sometimes with internal war

HARRY POTTER FOR ME

Potter, the name that has gripped the whole world like Magic currently, needs no introduction. But this post is about the memories of me with the Potter world ( the glorious 11 years) and the golden trio that stole my heart forever
Met Harry potter exactly 11 years back in my teens and the first meeting was quite awkward and unexpected (surprising actually seeing my craze for him lately:). My BFF introduced me to his world. At first I was not willing for the adventure, so humbly denied the entry cause the world of witch, wizard seemed bizarre to me and too add, even childish. But the amazing persuasion power of my BFF finally made me give in and after 3 complete attempts (actually rumbling through the first few chapters time and again for a week or so) I finally entered his world and thereafter there was no looking back.

As I became comfortable with his world I finished the first part in 1 day and was asking for more. 2nd and 3rd was finished in a ziffy leaving a long wait for "The Goblet of fire". May be this yearning is the reason it happens to be my Favorite part all along.
I was tantalized by his world. The impossible getting possible. He became my own and shared his world with me. Becoming the part of it was the most exciting thing ever. It was like having a best friend with you 24/7. When life gave me lemons I  turned to him for advice and amazingly Dumbledore and Hermione never let me down. The fact that it's just not a wizard story woven in literature but a daily dose of living in a different world with morals sewn with great care and effort. It's advice about friendship, love (not the infatuation one but the real one between parents, siblings, friends) though simple was delivered with  perfection. One will never forget the value of their dear ones once visiting the world with him.

The future books got more darker and darker. The rise of the Evil, premature deaths, the notion that none is perfect (even great minds like Dumbledore had made mistakes), Present is more important then past, Life is nothing in-front of friendship e.t.c were portrayed beautifully. And finally the win of good over evil, hope over despair ended the series.

The wait for the books; the excitement in the air few months before its release has always been a integral part of my being. Then it was followed by the movies. I still remember my hostel days when few of us Potterheads returned home just to gather at my place to see the television release of "The Chamber of Secrets" (Good Ol' times). But the wait is over now, the yearning has ended. Finally Potter  said bye-bye in style.

Though I'm more of a book person than a movie one, ideally my wait was over with "The Deathly Hallows" book. But the wait for the final movie was like a boon. With all the twittermates chattering around the world, with excitement; months before it's release. The whole wait, laughter, cry became enchanting. I doubt I will ever have such wonderful moment again in my life or I ll fall head over heels with anyother thing/being like I had in this one. But this experience was tantalizing and will remain with me for ever. Especially watching "The Deathly hallows Part 2" with my buddies in 3D.

Last minute preparations, the uncertainty of this movie being released here e.tc. But finally we were able to watch first day, first show in seat no H7 :) (co-incidence!!!)Those memories will be with me for ever.

Not sure if I ll be reading those books again because with time things change/move on, priorities become different. But the journey together was awe-inspiring and will be more then happy to share these memories with anyone who want to be a part of it.
Finally,Should i say ' I solemnly swear i'm upto no good' or 'mischief managed' or feel miserable that a decade long obsession has finally come to an end. But Whatsoever the whole world knows this magic will prevail. Gushing through the veins of the future younger generation this literature will end only with human extinction. Tranquility at last :) and i still believe in Rowling.

Thank you so much for your imagination that left me with glorious memories.

The God Of Small Things - Arundhati Roy

Picked up this book just for the sake of reading something new. To change a chain of thoughts, to explore newer grounds. The book turned out to be a delight for an explorer. An entirely new dish of unknown ingredients- marinated and cooked in a way, one would not have preferred otherwise, but delicious to the extreme, tantalizing the taste buds.

A sad story told by Rahel, di-zygotic twin of Esthan, about her family in Ayehenem, South India. The book portrays efficiently the caste system, effect of Christianity (Aftermath?), love, betrayal, hatred - revealing all its nooks and corners. Whether it be the strange affection between Rahel and Esthan (Incest); forbidden relationship between Ammu and Velutha; Baby Kocchama and Father Mulligan; Chacko and Margaret or even Pappachi and Mammachi; everything  was described with simplicity, daring and wit (Almost in a child like way).

The story was simple with all the sadness that is usually hidden by a society (Male chauvinistic society). The story didn't impress me much (to be frank) but yet I was hooked - truly , madly, deeply- and bewitched by the unique style of writing of the creator herself. She dared to be different, listened to her heart and wrote something exquisite . Rather then the story I was sincerely praising (with all my heart) the amazing style of her writing, her words, the language, almost with the child like innocence and imagination, crying out loud to be read, to be appreciated and demanded attention.

There were moments when I felt sick - almost- with the sweetness of the banana jam, the sourness of the bus-rails, the cartwheels, the "different" shaped holes in the universe, but yet i had to go on and secretly demanded more of her thoughts, trying to explore more... the innocence of her writing style and couldn't get enough in the end.

Hats off to Arundhati Roy and her writing with panache. Booker's prize well deserved without a doubt.

One Word- Mesmerized!!!
